I know how frustrating money can be. I’ve been there.
Hi, I’m Liesha!
(Pronounced Lee-sha)
I was Queen of the Overdraft Fees.
I had credit card debt, student loan debt, personal loans–with no clue of how to manage any of it.
I had zero retirement savings, or any knowledge of investing.
I lived a life of playing perpetual catch-up: paying what I could, when I could, and then finding a way to make up for it with the next paycheck. I had no “Spending Plan”, and what I was doing was not sustainable.
Everything changed when I discovered a personal finance book that led me to open my first ROTH IRA–there was no retirement savings plan offered through my employer, so it was on me to figure it out. I devoured the information, and I got the ball rolling. It was the smallest ball you’ve ever seen, but it was rolling!
From there, I learned to create a sustainable Spending Plan. Slowly but surely, by becoming intentional and thoughtful about what was happening with my money, I was finally able to watch my debts clear away. I had a new plan in place that functioned automatically and behind the scenes.
Most importantly, for the first time, I had CLARITY and CONTROL with my money.
I was already what my friends would agree was a true-lover of the Self-Help Industry. If there was a book about finding your values, clarifying your purpose, or digging into your subconscious beliefs, odds are I had probably read it.
I began to see that I could translate those concepts to the way I felt about, and managed, my money. I’m most passionate about what I call the “Money Mindset” which includes our deepest thoughts, feelings and beliefs about money. I’m fascinated when discovering how those might be mis-aligned with our personal values, behaviors and money goals.
In 2021, I launched Unlocking Abundance Finance with the mission to coach solopreneurs and individuals towards investigating and resolving their beliefs and behaviors about money. We combine that with developing a sustainable and customized Money Management Plan in key foundational areas of personal finance: Finding More Money & Increasing Savings, Reducing Debt, and Building Credit.
As an Accredited Financial Counselor by the Association of Financial Counseling & Planning Education I have passed a rigorous exam in 9 core competencies of finance, as well as completed over 1000hrs doing what I’m most passionate about–helping my clients wrap their heads around their money by addressing both their “feels” and their numbers!
My clients become internally motivated, feel empowered and confident in aligning new behaviors and systems with their goals. They become more intentional. They let go of the confusion and shame that comes with financial stress and bask in a newly found financial abundance!
